Clononeen Farm

OUR STALLIONS

2008 is set to be another successful season for Clononeen Farm, our philosophy is simple, we only win if you do. Our herd sires are chosen for their type, movement, conformation, and quality of hair. Many of the breed’s all time great names now echo through our Hall of Fame, Dunbrody, Romeo, Spellcaster, Poitin and many more. Clononeen Farm don’t stand these sires to any outside mares, this protects our integrity and the investment of our clients, this is one of the many reasons why people turn to us again and again.

We buy and breed only the best and it’s a recipe which has worked well so far with Clononeen Romeo now being the highest priced foal producer in the USA. To recognize quality from day one isn’t as simple as it sounds, horsemanship runs deep around here, some say it’s the rich limestone land, more say it’s in our blood...

Update: Coming soon from the USA...Clononeen Rich Rebel, formally known as Rory!

CLONONEEN DOUBLE TUMBLE
Double Tumble is the future superstar – without a shadow of doubt! He is a line bred Tumbleweed Grandson who will be ready to start covering mares later this season. Double Tumble was purchased at Appleby 2007 and we have been watching him mature into a phenomenal young stallion who will be giving the big guns a run for their money very soon!

CLONONEEN HUSTLER
Hustler joined our breeding herd in April of 2006 and has proven to be an extremely prolific sire. He is a true half brother to Dick Smith’s stallion (they share the same Dam) and out of a Pratt bred mare. His sire is John Pratt’s Paddy Horse. Hustler is one of the most compact and traditional stallions we have ever owned. He stands a shade under 14hh yet to stand into him he is a much larger horse, it’s that presence that is so often talked about in this breed and we are proud to say that Clononeen Hustler has it all.
Hustler is now proudly owned by the Sharp Family of www.superiorstables.com. He will be standing to a limited number of outside mare and will no doubt continue to stamp his progeny which has made him one of the breed's great names.

CLONONEEN DARRIG
Darrig was the most talked about young stallion in either England or Ireland last year. Although only five years old, 2006 was his second foal crop and he has proven himself as a true ambassador. He stands close to 13.3hh and he has that natural high step which is so popular. 2007 is our first season with Darrig and we plan on covering a very select group of mares and have big plans for this phenomenal stallion. He has only one foal due in the US for 2007 so this is a great opportunity to breed in some new bloodlines. He is very generous to his offspring, they all have that distinctive stamp of quality.

CLONONEEN TUMBLEWEED
Known simply as the Sire of Sires, Tumbleweed is one of the best producers in England. He is the sire of Clononeen Playboy who is now proudly owned by Desert Jewel Gypsies and Squirrelwood Gypsies NY. Playboy was inspected by a CHAPS certified judge for the GCHDA and scored the highest accolade of a first premium. Tumbleweed was purchased recently and just in time for the 2007 breeding season. His progeny were the highest priced at the March Fair (the first fair of 2007) and we look forward to breeding some more of the quality which he is so celebrated for.

CLONONEEN WREN BOY
Wren was purchased in 2004 as a yearling and stood his first season in 2006. His first filly was born in November last year and has those same loud sabino or blagdon markings as her sire. Wren Boy stands a shade over 14.2hh and has one of those very special dispositions which has made this breed so popular. Due to the acquisition of Darrig and Tumbleweed we are reluctantly offering Wren Boy for sale to the right home.
UPDATE:Wren Boy has settled in famously with his new owners in Denmark Henning and Vita Soe who are thrilled with him. Thankfully they keep us updated with lots of photos of our favourite boy!

CLONONEEN SILKY BOY
Silky Boy is a five year old proven sire by Lenny's Horse.. His Dam is by the now deceased Dulux Horse who was also known as the Kent Horse, so it's no wonder this boy is so handsome. Silky Boy (aptly named as his feather is so soft and silky) is approx. 14.1hh and is a very easy horse to work with. To date he has been a very exclusive stallion, only breeding to very select mares and his progeny are some of the best examples of the breed here in the U.K. We are fortunate to be able to offer him as part of our stallion line up for 2008.
